Can GRP be used to overlay an existing roof
We have an old roof surface thats getting on in years and while it's not leaking at the moment and I want to overlay the GRP roofing system over the top, is this possible?
In short the answer needs to be no, although some people will tell you that you can with special primers, we would never overlay a GRP roofing system onto an existing surface and always apply to fresh OSB3 decking.
Any GRP roofing system is designed to be installed on fresh decking but people will push the system by using application primers, originally created for sealing GRP ponds.
If you do want a product that can be overlaid without the need for a primer then we manufacture a special fibreglass system called Fibrecoat which can be applied directly to most existing roof surfaces, talk to us for more information.
