Fibremat 150 is a chopped strand of e-glass fibreglass matting made of randomly distributed chopped glass strands held together with an emulsion binder.

Fibremat 150 is used with the Fibrecoat system to create durable and weather-resistant roof surfaces. The combination of chopped strand matting and Fibrecoat forms a strong, reinforced composite surface that offers excellent protection against the elements.

The product acts as a reinforcement in the roofing system. It adds strength and stability to the roof, enhancing its resistance to impacts, weathering, and thermal expansion and contraction. The combination of the matting and resin also helps to distribute the load evenly across the roof surface.

In addition to providing structural reinforcement, Fibremat also assists in preventing cracks and leaks. It creates a continuous barrier that helps to resist water penetration and protect the underlying structure from moisture damage.

Detailing section

Apply Fibrecoat resin to the detail area ensuring works are progressed to the point of egress. Immediately lay the Fibremat reinforcement into the wet coating and begin to embed it with a suitable roller.

Applying the first layer

Cut the Fibremat 150 Reinforcement to the required length and width for the proposed detail to be completed. Take into account the wind when cutting the fibreglass so as not to leave unmanageable sections of fibreglass.

Use a loaded roller to ensure full saturation of the reinforcement. Coverage rates are governed by the substrate. Refer to the specifications or contact us for more details.

Overlaps between strips of Fibreglass must be at least 50mm with feathered edges. Ensure there is sufficient material to saturate these overlap areas.

Monitor application and check for wicked fibres or pinholing and apply more product where required. Allow to cure per Allbase Technical Services recommendations before application of the top coat. Once the membrane has cured, check for pinholes and any surface defects. Wicked fibres should be trimmed back and lightly abraded to provide an even surface before the application of the second layer.
